Constitution Article 4: Governing Body
  • The governing body of the Union shall be a general meeting of the Union and all policies, rules and regulations enacted shall bind all members, chartered locals, SUN District Councils, committees, and directors of the Union.
  • A general meeting includes annual meeting, bargaining conference, or special meeting. 
Annual Meeting
  • Allows all nurses to have a voice.
  • Place where decisions are made regarding Constitutional and Bylaw amendments, policy, and financial matters.
  • Opportunity to discuss current issues related to nursing practice, and items for consideration related to negotiations.
Constitution – Article 5 – Board of Directors
  • The affairs and activities of the Union shall be managed and administered by an elected Board of Directors between annual meetings.

  • A body of fundamental principles or established precedents according to which a state or other organization is acknowledged to be governed.

  • Set of rules made by a company, organization, or society to control the actions of its members.

  • A written statement outlining where an individual or organization stands on a topic in a variety of areas like policy, literature, ethics, and legislation.

  • A course or principle of action adopted by a government, organization, business, or individual.

Submitting Resolutions

Ahead of an annual meeting, the Constitution, Bylaws and Resolutions Committee will put out a call for submissions for the following:

  • Constitutional Amendments
  • Bylaws Amendments
  • Policy Resolutions
  • Position Statements Resolutions
  • Business Resolutions
  • Negotiations Considerations
  • Discussion Papers

Submissions will need to be sent to the Regina SUN Provincial Office by a set deadline for the committee to consider. If approved, these amendments and resolutions will be included in the resolutions package in the Operations Report and discussed at the annual meeting. 

Call for Resolutions

In preparation for the 2023 Annual Meeting, the Constitution, Bylaws & Resolutions Committee is accepting submissions for:

  • Constitutional Amendments
  • Bylaws Amendments
  • Policy Resolutions
  • Position Statements Resolutions
  • Business Resolutions
  • Negotiations Considerations

Submission Forms

  • Constitutional and bylaws amendments must be submitted on the Amendment Form. Click here to download
  • Resolutions pertaining to policy changes, position statement changes, or general business of the union must be submitted on the Resolution FormClick here to download

Proposed amendments must be received in the Regina SUN office by January 9, 2023, at 16:00; submissions received after the stated deadline cannot be considered.

Note: Allow ample time if mailing – consider other means if you have slow mail service. Any forms that are emailed to the Regina SUN office must be followed up with a phone call (1-800-667-7060) to confirm the email was received. The original must also be sent to the Regina SUN office by mail.

Call for Discussion Papers

If a SUN member, Local or SUN Network Council wishes to submit a discussion paper for discussion in the Open Forum at the 2023 Annual Meeting, the discussion paper must be submitted by 16:00 on January 9, 2023.

Acceptance of discussion papers will be subject to relevance to SUN’s objectives and time available for discussion.

The discussion paper must include the title or topic, relevance to union objectives, name of submitter and a phone number that submitter may be contacted at.
